There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

OCTOBER 10, 2012 -- BETHANY'S GT FIELD TRIP

GT FIELD TRIP TO CRYSTAL BRIDGES
October 10, 2012

Today I was lucky and got to spend the day with Bethany on her GT field trip to Crystal Bridges.  Crystal Bridges is this incredible art museum up in Rogers and it is a beautiful place as well as a very well respected art  museum.  Bethany had fun with her friends and had fun introducing me to her friends.

It was neat to see artists set up at work painting or sketching!

The kids were taken through the museum and a "museum educator" discussed 6 different art works with them.  It was really neat to see him guide the kids through an art analysis process.  I learned a lot!

We were fed lunch!
After lunch, the kids all put together these small journals.  All it took was a 2 half sheets of construction paper, 6 half sheets of plain white paper, a small rectangle of colorful paper to fold in half for the binding, and 3 colorful brads.  Quick, easy and cute!
The kids made these little journals.  A great idea for Activity Days or Young Women!

We divided up into small groups for about an hour.  Bethany's group was fun and we went to this courtyard and played "checkers."  The girls beat the boys!  The girls with their hands up are "Queen-ed."

There is this red disk of glass that is on a window to that checkerboard court yard.  You can't see into the museum, but you can see out into the court yard.  We decided to go look through and then I took a picture that turned out pretty cool, so all the kids went out for a group picture!

Re-playing the checkers game

There is this other cool sculpture that looks so real!
The kids stood in front of it to make it look like he was real and part of their picture!

We went up to the balcony and looked over the entrance
court yard of the museum.
They wanted to throw a penny down to a friend to catch,
but that got nixed.
The kids are fun!

The whole group out waiting for the bus to go home.

Bethany with Ms. Seward -- a great teacher!!
