MOTHER'S DAY AND FHE IN THE HALLWAY
MAY 10, 2014
Today was Mother's Day. I was asked to speak in Sacrament Meeting and it was a good opportunity for me to think about what it really means to be a mother. After church, we hurried home to get online for a phone call from Hyrum. When Dad arrived, he couldn't get the key to work. We arrived with the Litchfields whom we had invited over for Sunday dinner. In our rushing to get out the door, we left the key in the back of the door which makes it impossible for a key to be put into the front of the door. Problem. I tried to tweak it with a credit card but was afraid to break something. We finally called our landlord and they sent a locksmith over for us.
While we were waiting, Hyrum let us know that he would be late getting on which worked for us. As we sat there, Bethany went ahead and gave us our FHE lesson that she had prepared. It was great!
The locksmith came and he took a piece of stiff plastic, stuck it in between the door and the frame and popped open our door. 100RMB and a piece of plastic later we were in our apartment. I was on track to solve it myself, but wasn't aggressive enough. Now we know! The good side is that the locksmith was a lot cheaper than in the USA.
Of course, the highlight of Mother's Day was talking to Hyrum for a good hour and then early the next day, we talked to Melissa. We miss them so, so much!
We had delicious fresh corn for dinner!
This was our Mother's Day gift from the branch.
