There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

FEBRUARY 21, 2014 -- DAD'S MEMORY LANE

DAD'S MEMORY LANE
February 21, 2014

We had fun visiting all the places that were part of our Dad's childhood.  Grandma Richardson gave us a great tour of Tempe, AZ.

Thrifty was the place to go for ice cream after concerts.
The Thrifty store was a "dime store" similar to a Walgreens and had an ice cream spot as in the front as well.  That original Thrifty is gone, but an ice store in Tempe serves their ice cream!
Mom spent a fair amount of her babysitting money on Thrifty ice cream and would often buy ice cream for whomever would drive here there!
When mom was in high school, she dated a boy who worked as an ice cream scooper!

This is the sign from Grandpa Jay Richardson's dental office that he
owned and operated for many years.

This is where mom answered the phone when Grandmother Irene Flake called and asked if Mom would go on a blind date with her grandson,
Vernon Richardson.   The rest is history.
