There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

2013 JULY: NAUVOO JUNIOR HIGH

NAUVOO JUNIOR HIGH
JULY 2013

During our first week at pageant, we spent most of the day a the Nauvoo Junior High School.  This was a home camp location for the pageant office, costumes, etc.  They also had a large tarp that covered the entire gym floor that had markings on it to represent the stage.  It was home for that first week.  The kids loved the huge "Viking" mascot out in the grass.  It reminded them of the Studio C episodes called "The Awkward Avoidance Viking!"

We had to get a "David and Goliath" picture!!

Some local scenery from the junior high

They brought in air conditioning for us in the gym!
What a blessing!

PICNIC LUNCH AT THE NAUVOO STATE PARK
JULY 2013

We were so blessed to have such beautiful, cool weather our first week in Nauvoo!  We took advantage of it and enjoyed one of our lunch breaks at the Nauvoo State Park.

David is always thinking and creating!
Dad was able to get in his "10 minute nap."

We spent a lot of time doing girls' hair!
The girls had to have their hair braided and women
had to have their hair in a bun.

We were blessed to have such beautiful weather!

 I love cone flowers!

2013 JULY: BUILDING THE TEMPLE"

"BUILDING THE TEMPLE"
JULY 2013

The Nauvoo Temple is such a beautiful sight!
It is the backdrop prior to sunset and the start of the pageant then
at the end of the pageant, it is lit up and shines like a beacon.

During the pageant, the men help to "build" the temple and ten at the end, they have to take it down so it is ready for the next night.
It is quite a process and is amazing to watch.

Benjamin is in the green had and red sleeves.

Another successful day "building the temple"

2013 JULY -- REHEARSING STICK BALL GAME

REHEARSAL THE STICK BALL GAME
JULY 2013

The boys were part of a really fun scene where we depict the fun that Joseph Smith loved to have with the children.  The kids portrayed a stick ball game!!  Mason go to be "2nd Base" and David got to be the batter and then run the bases and then JUMP up into Joseph's arms!!  It was such a fun thing for David!
I was able to be on stage in a "sewing circle" and watched the whole thing!
It was really fun!
Mason as "2nd Base"
A fun change we saw in Mason is that we went from a little boy who didn't want to even try on his costume or participate but just wanted to play on Dad's phone to a a 5 year old who kept up with the other boys, went to and from his places on stage, sang songs, and had a great time!

Daniel was part of the scene!  He had other special parts!
