There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

FEBRUARY 21, 2014 -- DAD'S MEMORY LANE

DAD'S MEMORY LANE
February 21, 2014

We had fun visiting all the places that were part of our Dad's childhood.  Grandma Richardson gave us a great tour of Tempe, AZ.

Thrifty was the place to go for ice cream after concerts.
The Thrifty store was a "dime store" similar to a Walgreens and had an ice cream spot as in the front as well.  That original Thrifty is gone, but an ice store in Tempe serves their ice cream!
Mom spent a fair amount of her babysitting money on Thrifty ice cream and would often buy ice cream for whomever would drive here there!
When mom was in high school, she dated a boy who worked as an ice cream scooper!

This is the sign from Grandpa Jay Richardson's dental office that he
owned and operated for many years.

FEBRUARY 16, 2014:

GRANDBABY GROWING TOO FAST!
FEBRUARY 16, 2014

It is so hard to have the cutest grandbaby in the world so far away -- and soon it will even be farther!!!  We are so grateful for pictures and videos that her wonderful parents send to us frequently!!!  We love you little one!

FEBRUARY 7, 2014 -- OLYMPICS BEGIN

THE OLYMPICS BEGIN
FEBRUARY 7, 2014

We love the Olympics!!! We love watching the events!
This year, we made charts to keep track of all the athletes.
We had fun finding the countries on our huge wall maps
during the opening ceremonies.
We had Borscht for dinner -- a Russian soup.
The next night, we had Olympic Rings plates with blueberries, olives, red peppers, pineapple and cucumbers.  We used these on our Olympic Salads!

FEBRUARY 6, 2014 -- DAVID AT WORK

DAVID AT WORK
FEBRUARY 6, 2014

David is the most creative child I have ever met!  He is amazing!  I had to record his creative Lego airports, airplanes and also a little surprise we found on the fireplace!!!  Mason is one of David's biggest fans!

Dad came along and switched the words but it didn't last long --
David switched it back!

FEBRUARY 2, 2014 -- ANOTHER BIG SNOW

ANOTHER BIG SNOW
FEB 2, 2014

Arkansas has seen quite a bit of snow this year!  This snow came in and dumped and then stayed for over 2 weeks as temperatures stayed low.  That is unusual for Arkansas!

FEBRUARY 2014 -- CHINESE NEW YEAR

CHINESE NEW YEAR 2014

We finally had our Chinese New Year Celebration Dinner!
We can't wait until next year when we will get to celebrate in
China with all the fireworks!
I hope we can see a real Dragon Dance this time!

FEBRUARY 2014 -- PINE WOOD DERBY CARS AND DOG EATS CAKE

PINE WOOD DERBY CARS AND DOG EATS CAKE
EARLY FEBRUARY 2014

It is cute to see David and  Mason be such good buddies!

David started his pinewood derby car and Mason took the scrap part after we cut the car and they both had fun!  David worked to sand his car.
 It is ready to paint!

Bethany is so sweet and baked and decorated a birthday cake for Sister Wagstaff.  Do be funny, she also made a little "Llama Cake" for Braden as a joke -- inside joke --

Bethany is so sweet and baked and decorated a birthday cake for Sister Wagstaff.  Do be funny, she also made a little "Llama Cake" for Braden as a joke -- inside joke --
BUT .......  The cakes were put outside on the deck to keep cool and someone didn't "get the memo."
That uninformed person let Louie out and next thing we knew, he had eaten half of the Llama cake.  Luckily it wasn't the big beautiful cake she had decorated!
