There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

JULY 23, 2013: NAUVOO COUNTY FAIR

NAUVOO COUNTY FAIR
JULY 23, 2013

Our assignment for the first week was to help run the County Fair Activities!
Our station was the puppet show!  This became a hit amongst the visitors and our kids had so much fun!  In the end, we had Benjamin doing all the voices and adding comedy while other kids did the puppets, while other kids went out getting referrals and Dad worked the audience and met people there.  It was quite fun!!!

David uses the handcart to bring over the supplies for the Puppet Show!

Mason likes visiting the other nearby games!

 The Puppet Theater!

Mason also often needed a drink!

Bethany was the "MC" while Stephanie was the group leader.  Rebecca was incharge of puppets for the visiting children and the other kids ran the puppets.

Mason helped with "Audience Participation" and setting the wagon on the stage!

If Mason got tired of doing the puppet show, he often wandered to other nearby games.  One of his favorite was the handcart pull.  He was often found in carts with other folks and making new friends!  One time, I found him in a cart with a family and was part of their family picture!  This time I found him in a cart and was part of a "race" with 2 teenage boys who were there with a Youth Conference group.  Mason was in heaven and loved this ride!!!  Can you tell??

Joseph and Mom were part of the Country Fair Band.  Mom fiddled and Joseph played saxophone!  'Twas fun!

At the end of the Country Fair, there is a parade that is led by the bagpipes and colorful flags!   The last week, Benjamin, Rebecca and Rachel were able to carry flags in the parade!
