There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

OCTOBER 13, 2013: STAKE CONFERENCE IN PANAMA

STAKE CONFERENCE IN PANAMA
October 13, 2013

We were up early to eat breakfast and then had a taxi take us to the church here in Panama City.  We had a hard time finding it, but when we saw elders in white shirts we knew we had hit the jackpot!!
We pulled up and unloaded and then found out that they have stake conference today and were all waiting for a bus to take them to the church building across town!  They were gracious and invited us to ride with them!!!
As we waited, we took a look inside the church.  It is fun to have Dad be able to tell us about his mission and to show us things that were very similar to the way his mission was.  He said this building would have been typical in his mission.

Pictures with the local missionaries and with the ward members!

A mango tree at the church!

We boarded the bus with the members.  The elders told us that these buses used to be all that ran in Panama City, but in the past 6 months, the president of Panama is replacing them with nice metro buses.  These buses are called "Red Devils!"  We have seen them and they are very lively, colorful and always packed!!!!

We arrived at the building for Stake Conference.  It is also a beautiful building and quite a bit larger than the ward building we were at first.

I was impressed by the clever basketball/soccer combination goal!
Pretty cool!

After Stake Conference--over 700 people attended!

About the time conference was ending, it started to sprinkle.
It held off until we were on the bus heading back to our hotel and then it let loose.  We worked our way back but were all drenched!!!
Joseph has now said he is confident it will rain every day by 2pm.

FAMILY HOME EVENING IN THE
POOL SIDE PAVILLION
Well, they wanted to clean our room, so it seemed the perfect time to
have Family Home Evening.  Rachel and Benjamin gave a great lesson on Integrity and we had cookies for dessert.

There was an interesting black bird on the roof
