There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

APRIL 25-28, 2014 -- TREK SEND OFF, UNIVERSITY VISIT AND MOVING DAY

KIDS OFF TO TREK, UNIVERSITY VISIT
AND MOVING DAY
APRIL 25-28, 2014

The kids only got 1 day to get over jet-lag and the they were off to the Pioneer Trek with the other youth in the Suzhou Branch.
They were to pack all their stuff in a pillow case and then when they arrive in Beijing they would be given a 5 gallon white bucket to put their stuff in.
Here they are as we wait to meet President Okeson for the kids to get a ride to the airport to travel to Beijing for the trek.

Mason wanted in a picture, too!
This is our hotel, the "Warmly Peace Hotel"
As we waited, the kids hadn't had breakfast so Amy and Benjamin ran
over to a bakery to get some bread for breakfast.
 Bethany and Mason

After we sent the kids off, we headed out to find the university where Vernon will teach.  We needed to give them documents so they could start working on our residence visas.  As we walked the campus, Mason found a "Pokeball!!"
We found a student cafeteria and had some lunch.  Mason ate rice, of course.
 Amy and her Chinese lunch.

We had to make a trip to the ATM everyday to get money to pay the first 3 months of rent up front.  It was stressful to get that all lined up and paid.
We didn't realize we would need that much in a down payment.
The main door to our apartment building.
We are building #3, apartment #805
The first character is the #3.
Landmark Skylight Apartments.  This is our building.
We hired someone to help us move our suitcases.
I am so, so glad we had help.  It would have taken us ALL day to move these on our own across town.  We were grateful for Brother Jerwin's connections.

Our first night, we went to a eating place near a subway stop and had a big bowl of noodles and veggies and some fried baozi.
You take a bowl and fill it with veggies, meat, noodles, etc. and then they cook it in a pot in the broth and put it in your bowl.  Yummy!

On Saturday, we went to Wal-Mart to get things to make it through the weekend.  We needed towels so we could shower for church the next day!

A store outside at the big Wal-Mart complex with some funny English.

We found our way to another ATM near the wet market.
The vegetables at the wet market are beautiful and color and
the best tasting veggies you will ever eat!

During one of our daily trips to the ATM, Mason got to ride in the little car.
It sang and moved for a good 5 minutes!  Fun times for a little kid!

One way to the wet market is through a park area.  There is a playground
that Mason loves to stop and play at for a few minutes.
We liked the "keep off the grass" sign.
Public Toilets are common but you must bring your own paper.

Look at the "Dragon Fruit" we bought!
I don't know it's real name, but that is what I call it.
