There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

SETTLING INTO OUR NEW
MAY 1-4, 2014

Spanish Rice -- delicious freshness!

Mason plays with his new bubble toy!  It makes a wonderful soapy mess!

More views of our apartment

The kids are glad to be home from the Pioneer Trek and are enjoyed the comforts of our new home.

More bubbles -- "Just helping you clean, Mom!"

Bethany, Rachel and Mason

We found some interesting variegated beans.  They tasted OK, but took a LONG time to cook!
Next time we plan to stick with the black beans.

Popcorn and pineapple!

It took a few tries to find the best way to cook popcorn.
I tried cooking it in the microwave rice cooker which worked fine the first time, but then I left it too long and I melted the kernals through the bottom of the plastic!!! OOOPS!!!

We also experimented with fried pineapple!  Now that was delicious!!!

Pineapple always makes us think of Hyrum because he loves it, too!
Our kitchen and pantry cupboard

This is how you buy oil in China.  We bought these all at Metro.

I am always amazed at the straw brooms they use and how well they work.

RACHEL AND ANIMALS ARE KINDRED SPIRITS
Notice Rachel got a butterfly to stay on her finger.

Some yummy ice cream bars!!

A few sights on our way from our apartment to the ATM and wet market.

There is a bakery right by the ATM.  We had to try a few of their doughnuts!

Mason got to ride the little airplane -- it went on forever for just 1 RMB

We found this little stand and were curious about this dish.  We decided to order 1 and try it.  It was DELICIOUS!!  The kids decided to call them "Bracos" because it has egg and bacon and is folded like a taco.

Getting Mason to try new things is tricky.  Here he tries the Braco and ......

It got two thumbs up!!

Mason eats his Braco

Amy loves the strawberries!!!
Mason tries Baozi!!!

We try some noodle soup cups
