There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

AUGUST 7, 2014 -- PIZZA DAY AT BLUE TASSEL CAMP

PIZZA DAY AT BT CAMP
AUGUST 7 , 2014

We had the opportunity to go camp with the kids and cook pizza for their lunch today!  We were excited to do this and we learned a lot!
Here is a photo log of our adventure!

Bethany was promoted to staff!!  We are so excited for her and proud of her leadership abilities!
On the bus heading to Blue Tassel

First thing you must do for pizza is make the dough!  We 15 timed my original recipe!  We had a lot of dough!  This super sized mixer was amazing!!
The kitchen work space
 The super ovens!

 Mixers above and fridges below
Working to pour water from the big jug
Lots of pizza dough
 Amy oiling the pans
 Connie the huge dough ball

Laying out all 12 pizza pans!
sorry for more mixer pictures -- this thing was great!

 Lots of dough!

Our Chinese kitchen help were quite astonished at this dough process.

A bowl full of vegetables that the Chinese kitchen workers chopped up in literally just a few minutes.

We wished so badly that we could talk to our new friends!  They were so pleasant to work with!
 The sauce

Connie and Amy sauce up the deep dish pans
The Chinese folks are so practical!  Forget the spoons,
get the spackling paddle!

Literally a "bucket load" of pepperoni! And it was GOOD!
 We made 4 vegetarian pizzas

Here comes the cheese!!!  A rare sight in China!

Time to bake!

looking good and tasting delicious!

The pizza was fantabulous!!  Couldn't have asked for a better day!
We had a few big bubbles that we had to destroy!

They weren't quite sure what to think, but we passed out
samples and they liked it!

Again, forget the knife, bring out the metal spackling paddle

Bethany was our guide for the day!

 The kids loved the pizza!

 We made Benjamin's day!
More kitchen pictures from the Chinese cooking area

This looks like a watermelon, but it is a squash that they cook with A LOT!!  At the open wet market, you buy a slice of it.

Well, we cooked a little too much.  This was the left overs.  They used it for another day of pizza at camp.
You can boil a lot of water in this really fast!!
