BIRTHDAY SURPRISE FOR BROTHER CURTIS
JULY 17, 2014
Thursday
night, 17th, we were part of plans for a birthday celebration for
Brother Curtis. The Curtis family are in
USA and have left Dad here for a few more days.
Amy and I went with the Swopes to take him to dinner at a Thai
restaurant and had a great time visiting!
We then left and met the rest of the family at the Carpenter home and
were there to surprise Sam Curtis when he arrived to give a supposed
“Missionary Discussion.” It was a fun
surprise.
Sister Swope had made a great
cake and they had ice cream and it was all fun.
The Carpenter Family is the non-member family that our branch has
supported as the father was ill and near death.
The came to church today without any extra help from the branch. Roger Carpenter had some major heart issues
and was in ICU in Shanghai in April when we arrived in Suzhou. It is a miracle that he is alive and today,
he walked to church with his family. It
is a miracle. Dad was just assigned as
their hometeacher and last Sunday I was asked to be Sister Carpenter’s Visiting
Teacher. He is British and Sister
Carpenter is from Indonesia. They have 3
children who love coming to church and participating in Primary and Young
Womens
