There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

JUNE 23, 2014: LADIES LUNCH AND A FLAT TIRE

LADIES LUNCH AND A FLAT TIRE
JUNE 23 2014
Amy and I got the kids started on school and then we went to a late morning brunch to say goodbye to sisters in the branch that are moving and/or leaving for the summer.  We went to a German Bakery in Ligongdi and Amy and I ordered “Club Sandwiches.”  We learned that “club sandwiches” in China always have an egg on them!  It was good but different!
We have also recently learned that Suzhou food uses more sugar than other areas in China.  That explains why the bakeries here are better than we had when we lived in Shanghai.  We have enjoyed “treats” here because they are just a bit sweet but not too sweet!  I remember in Shanghai 11 years ago, things at the bakery looked beautiful but were terrible when you took a bite!!!  That is not the case here in Suzhou.

When we came out to take our bikes home, we found that Amy had a flat tire.  She did what I have done many times and that is to start to go with the U-lock still on.  Oops!  We learned that you should never put the u-olock on where the air plug for the tire is OR when you go forward you break off the air plug and will need a new tire.  Hmmm.  Lesson learned.  Brother Jerwin helped us get someone to go fix the tire.  Luckily we are in China and it only cost about $15 USD.  This was for the man to meet us at the bike in Ligongdi and fix it on site.  Not too bad.
