HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD
JULY 27, 2014
We
have had such a wonderful Sunday afternoon!!!
We had Brother & Sister Swope, Brother Wheelright (Sister W. was out
of town) and our 4 YSA boys over for lunch after church. They were all in on our secret plans for a
birthday dinner for Dad today! I had
worked Saturday, while Dad was gone, to go buy ice cream at Auschan and hurry
home to make cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies from scratch and get them
cooled and hidden before Dad got home.
I
was successful!!! So today, our BYU boys
distracted Dad while we quickly frosted cupcakes, put on sprinkles then put on
candles and lit them. We came out and
started singing to Dad and surprised him!
We ate dessert first and enjoyed our cupcakes with mango and chocolate
ice cream! The mango ice cream was delicious!!! I think Dad was surprised – either way he
acted surprised!!! We then had “burrito
bowls” for lunch.
This
afternoon has been wonderful as we have just sat and visited and laughed and
played games all afternoon. The fun that
we have had with these guys just makes me more and more excited for time with
all of you of my adult children!!!! I
can’t wait until we are back together again.
It has been a really fun day.
Right now we are having a good thunderstorm with some good lightning and
it is pouring rain!! We have the
curtains all open and are enjoying the storm as we eat our standard leftovers
dinner.
We decided to eat cake and ice cream first!
The kids loved that idea!
We played "Mophie", "Celebrity", and "Murder in the Dark."
