There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

JULY 4, 2014: HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
JULY 4, 2014
Today is of course the 4th of July, Independence Day, for the USA and we took the day off of school!!!  Yahoo!  Mason was so excited he got a free day from school! In the early morning, Dad, Amy, Bethany and David went to the meat market and bought 2 big boxes of chicken – 20 pounds of chicken breasts and 20 pounds of drumsticks.  Dad then went to the work and took Daniel with him.  At home, we spent the day cleaning house, went to the wet market, cooked chicken for the freezer, cooked food for the BBQ and party tonight and prepared for our busy weeks of camp and Chinese camp ahead.
We are excited that we were invited to a celebration party over at the Hiatt home tonight!  Brother Hiatt is making BBQ ribs and everyone else us supposed to bring a side dish.  We spent the day cooking and made potato salad, green salad, and chocolate chip cookies.

Tonight, we went to the 4th of July party at the Hiatt home/the church.  Brother Hiatt is home but his family is all back in the USA.  This wasn’t a branch activity but we had about 30+ people there from our branch.  We had quite a food spread!  Brother Hiatt has a smoker and made some delicious ribs!!!  They were so, so, so good!!!  We had made some yummy potato salad, a green salad, chocolate chip cookies (with a chopped chocolate bar) and a pineapple upside down cake.  There was some delicious chilli and grated cheese!!!  We played games and we shot off some incredible fireworks!!!  We played some new games that were fun and I have all ready ordered them and sent them to Robert and Alison so that I can bring them back in October.  We are hoping they might have fun playing them for a few months until I go there to help with their new baby.
