There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

JULY 9, 2014: MAKING JAOZI WITH OUR CHINESE CLASSMATES

MAKING JAOZI WITH OUR CLASSMATES
JULY 9, 2014
One of the cultural activities was to make jaozi.  We learned some great tips for making good jaozi!  We also learned from our friend from Japan how to form them into beautiful "fans."  The jaozi were delicious!  We will be making them at home soon.  We can purchase the premade wraps for
super cheap at the open wet market.

 These are Amy's teachers

We learned that you drop the jaozi into a pot of boiling water that you have stirred so that it is moving in a circle.  The jaozi go into the moving water and you give it a stir to every little bit to keep the water moving around in the pot.

I learned that I really like dipping my jaozi into mature vinegar

A little ice cream treat
This is fun to see -- it is a "straw dispenser" but it is full of chopsticks!
Here is Amy with her homework that she has written all in characters!  She is very good at writing beautiful characters!!!
