There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

A CHAT WITH MELISSA &
SUMMER GOAL SETTING

The highlight of today was a nice long visit with Melissa!!  She is in France for the summer and we miss her but she is having a "dream come true" experience!!!  Melissa is half way through her study abroad and then she will go to Jerusalem for 2 weeks and then back for a 6 week internship in Marcailles, France.
A link to her blog is in the right side bar of this blog!
Melissa, on the right, and lots of cheese!!!
It was great to be able to use SKYPE to chat with Melissa.  She could hear us and we could see video of her but it was hard to hear her.  Our conversation consisted of us talking and her typing the answers!  Sort of funny.  She was able to talk to all of the kids and Dad and I had a nice long visit with her.  She definitely is making the most of her experience and learning so much about the country, its history and culture.  I am so amazed at all the exploring she does!  She is amazing!!!

SUMMER GOAL SETTING WORK SESSION

Today for FHE, we had summer planning and goal setting.  It was great!  We have all the kids working to set their goals in the areas of:  Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Educational, Social, Personal Development, and Hobby.  We are in our last 4 days of school so we are gearing up for summer -- lots of fun and lots of progress!
We started our FHE by writing down what we would like someone to carve on our grave stone.  Then we talked about who we want to become in the future and then we made a list of things that we would be and where we would be in 5-10 years.  It was amazing to realize how many of our children would be Returned Missionaries, in college and possibly married in the next 10 years!!!
We then talked about the 6 different areas and gave some ideas for goals.  We also talked about some family goals in these areas.  Some of our family goals are:
SPIRITUAL:  daily prayers and scripture study
PHYSICAL:  daily exercise and healthier eating
EMOTIONAL:  lower stress levels
EDUCATIONAL:  flash cards & read
SOCIAL:  opportunities for friends to come over and play/hang out
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:  working on piano and other talents
HOBBY:  encourage finding new interests and developing them

We had a really nice visit and interview with each of our children.   It was a good day!!!!
