A PEACEFUL SABBATH AND INDOOR CAMPOUT
Today was a beautiful Sabbath day. The speakers in church gave great messages about sacrifice and service. I taught the lesson in Young Women and we had a special feeling and the spirit was so strong as we talked about reaching out to others. We watched this wonderful video clip about some young women in Arizona who helped and served a girl in their youth group. It was touching. My heart was touched as I saw tears in the girls' eyes and knew they were feeling the spirit. This afternoon, we took a nap and relaxed. We went outside for a bit and watered the new trees. Bethany and David made dinner for us and we ate on the deck in the wonderful cool breeze. The kids wanted to sleep in the deck tonight but also wanted to watch a Sunday movie so they compromised with cots and sleeping bags in the Exercise Room! Indoor camp out with all the luxuries of electricity! Before they started their movie, we read scriptures and had a really neat 30 minutes discussion about 2 Nephi 28:19-the end. We talked about some "tricks" or "strategies" that Satan uses to lead us away from the truth and the church. We listed: 1. stirring hearts to anger against good things or good people; 2. pacify or "lull" people to be "half asleep" like bees in smoke, to just not do what they need to do 3. telling people lies to "flatter" them and have them hear what they want so they can do what they want. We talked about our pre-mortal life and that in heaven, at our big family council with Heavenly Father, Satan's plan wasn't chosen so he didn't get to "be in charge" or get "all the attention and glory" so basically he is now throwing a bit temper tantrum and trying to make everyone miserable and can't stand to see us happy and free because he is dis-regulated and scrambling and mad.
The kids relate to that, unfortunately, because of the challenges we have had at home with Matthew.
I was so proud of some of the connections that Rachel and David were making and talking about with experiences at school and stories we have discussed. They are good kids!!!
