There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

MAY 28, 2012 -- MEMORIAL DAY

MEMORIAL DAY 2012

We started the day with hauling rocks.  We thought we had worked pretty hard!  Hyrum, Benjamin, Rachel, Bethany and David all worked with mom and we made a lot of progress!  We also moved some extra gravel down to the pond edge to help soak up the muck and mud.
The afternoon brought naps!!!
About 3pm, the Bennett family came over and Brother Ron Bennett was ready to work!  I had mentioned moving rocks.  There were 3 especially big rocks down in the water edge that I was wishing we had but I said that I couldn't even budge them so I didn't know if we could get them moved.  Ron said, "You bet we can!" We got Hyrum and Joseph out and with the tractor, trailer, a couple of 2x4's and some pure "freezer power" those men moved the rocks!!  The biggest one was probably 300+ pounds -- by Ron's estimation!
The rocks were hauled over to our new "fishing spot" and we created two very nice steps for going down to the pond.  We had created a path down the hill earlier in the day and Ron helped us finish out a very nice landing!  We also created and rock area up on the hill for sitting, too!  Our big project is shaping up nicely -- step by step!!
Tomorrow we dig up "Monkey Grass", build the remaining garden beds and the workers finish pouring our concrete -- then we can finish planting the "Knock Out Roses!"

After the work, we swam and BBQ Teryaki Chicken and Roasted some delicious vegetables!  Watermelon hit the spot for dessert.

To finish off the evening, the kids went fishing down on our new rocks and caught several fish!
Playing on the playground was necessary as we headed up to the car to say goodbye!
We sure enjoyed the Bennett family this evening!  Thank you for spending today with us!

Bethany caught a little Perch but wouldn't touch it!

Rachel caught a good sized Catfish

Mason on his 3rd or 4th can of pop -- he doesn't drink the whole thing, but still ..... who is his mother!! :)

Bethany caught another fish!!!

David finally caught a fish using the small baby snake that he killed for me this morning -- it was under a rock that we moved.
