BOOK CHARACTER DRESS-UP DAY
Our elementary school has a fun tradition. Instead of dressing up at Halloween, they have a "Book Character Dress-Up Day" and the kids all bring their chosen book and dress as their chosen character from that book! It is lots of fun! We had some excited kids -- especially Daniel and David -- who planned way ahead for this!
David wanted to be a policeman like in the movie "Courageous" but since that wasn't actually a book, he was flexible and we found a book that had a policeman in it! David worked to earn his needed 25 jewels so that we could go to the dollar store and buy a police badge. When we arrived, they were all out. David was clever enough to go look on another aisle and he found a package of badges with the party favors! 8 badges for $1 was a good deal! When we arrived home, Rachel set to work and helped him make an American Flag "badge" for his shoulder, she put one police badge on each shoulder and then made him a name tag and put it over a badge on the front. We slicked down his hair and he had his dark sunglasses!! He was set and was quite excited about his "look" for the day!!!

Daniel made plans several days ago to be Harry Potter. Daniel is very organized and he makes lists on his own and gathers his needed things in his "launching pad" that we made for him. Daniel had his cape, wand (chop stick) and his red lightning bolt scar! He was doing magic all morning through the kitchen -- I thought magic should help clean up and not make messes! :) We joked that it was just a spell gone bad.

Bethany had a hard time deciding what to do. She has been busy with "HONK Jr." rehearsals. She would love to have been "Katniss" but we didn't pull that off. She was clever and decided to be "Riley" from
11 Finally. She put band aids all over herself and made a sign to wear. (picture coming)
