This morning we were up and off
early to go find the China Visa Support Office.
We walked for about 30 minutes and finally found the office in the
Hampshire office building. We had pretty
good directions and then a helpful security guard got us the rest of the
way.
Amy submitted her paperwork with
help from Dad to get some additional “travel plans” to submit to help her
case. It took us over 2 hours to get it
all together and submitted. I also wrote
a letter of invitation for her which they said would be helpful. We then walked up the street and found a
little restaurant and with a really nice Indian woman who ran the place and she
introduced us to lots of different foods.
She gave us a sample plate of 4 different dishes and it was great! We ate some curried beef, mutton and Biryani (rice
dish). Mason love his plain rice. J As we were leaving, Amy stopped and had the
lady write down the names of the dishes that we had just eaten. While Mason and I were waiting, we started
watching a man making "nan bread." It was
really cool. We ended up buying bread to
take back home with us.

We then headed down Jalan P. Ramlee
and went to find the Malaysian Tourist Center, but didn’t find it. We did find the “hop on hop off” bus people
and talked to them about 48 hour tickets for us and tickets for the whole
family. WE then went into the Petronas
Towers and walked around the mall there – looking for the aquarium called
“Aquaria.” We were not having any luck
finding it. We did find the ticket
office for the big concert hall there – Carmen is playing tomorrow night but
the tickets are over $100 each.
Bummer. I’d love to see Carmen
someday. I have played a lot of
orchestral music in my previous years that someday would be fun to here in
context in the ballet or opera. Not this
trip and that’s OK. J We also found the ticket counter for the
going up the Petronas towers, but the tickets are almost $30 each. Ouch.
We then went back to find Aquaria and found a grocery store where we
bought “Plus 100” to drink with our nan bread.
Our friend, Christian Austin, who served his mission in Malaysia told us
to try this drink and it was as good as he said it would be! We FINALLY found the aquarium.

Aquaria was really cool! It wasn’t too big, but was done very
well. We watched the “Pirahna feeding”,
the “Water Rat Feeing” and the Otter Feeding.
Pirahna feeding was crazy and the Otter feeding was so cute and Mason
laughed so hard!!! The otters did tricks
with balls for the trainers that were feeding them. After the aquarium, we stopped off at the little
grocery store and bought an ice cream bar and a chocolate bar that was “chocolate
mint nut.” We took our 20 minute walk
home.

Right near the Parkview Service
Apartments, where we are staying, is a street that is lined on both sides with
outdoor café’s that are basically an area with tables, stools, cooking space
and a big tarp over the top. We ate
chicken fried rice and it was great! We
then walked down to another stall for their bread. Mason loved their bread. The dough looks similar to what they use in
China for “bracos” but they roll it thin and then fold it over multiple times
to get air in it and then cook it on a hot griddle. They also put a scrambled egg on it as it
cooks.
After our tummies were full, we bought water and went back home. Mason was so excited to go swimming so we all went. The night view from the pool was incredible. To the left was the Petronas towers and to the right was the KL Tower. We sat in the jets of the Jacuzzi tub area and did some water aerobics. I don’t think the water was heated, but it could have been worse. After swimming, showering and getting ready for bed, we relaxed and I enjoyed an episode of “Heartland.” J
