There is a quote: "LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORMS TO PASS.... IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN."
With 12 children and 5 adopted from Russia, we have had challenges and trials along with our joys. We have decided that we must
learn how to "dance in the rain." We must notice and acknowledge the joys and miracles in our lives.
They exist daily -- we just need to make sure we do not miss them!! This blog is to remind us of these miracles and joys!

JANUARY 28, 2015 -- FEBRUARY FLIGHT DAY #3

KUALA LUMPUR DAY #3 -- Big Bus Tour Day 1
January 28, 2015

This morning we went to the stall that made the bread to order something we saw ordered yesterday!  We ordered Roti Basan – this yummy bread with banana, butter and Coconut Jam in it rather than egg.  It was delicious!  We also ordered orange juice which comes in a plastic bag tied shut with a ribbon string.  We also bought fresh fruit and carried all of this with us to the “Hop on Hop off” bus stop where we had to buy our 48 hour ticket on the bus.  We got on the top of the double decker bus right in front for Mason and enjoyed riding the bus all the way around its path while eating our bread, fruit and orange juice.  As we were starting the second loop, we got off at the KL Tower and looked around.

We debated on what things we should do because there are lots of options.  Mason wanted to save going up the tower to do with the family.  We can get a discount ticket from the bust company so it is only 23RM rather than 45.  We considered eating lunch in the revolving restaurant, but it was too expensive – they say you can buy a groupon ticket online though and save money.  We decided “no” on aquarium because we all ready did Aquaria and it looked like it was better.  We did decided to do the XD 6D Theater and watched/rode the Jungle Safari and it was quite fun!  We enjoyed walking through the little cultural park that they have and we ate the rest of our fruit as a little picnic there.  We headed back to the bus stop to wait for the next “hop on hop off” bus and Mason and Amy bought a can of pop from the pop machine to drink while we waited.

Mason loved using the binoculars

Driving around on the double decker bus allowed us to see lots of interesting things. The women in their traditional dress are beautiful!  The unique KFC ads were fun to see.  The Convention Center is where the Aquarium was located.   We also drove past the president's mansion.

Our next stop on the bus tour that we got off at was the Cultural Arts Center.  We enjoyed looking around and seeing local artists work in Batik, Wood Carving, Ceramics, and a few others.  We really got into the Batik painting and spent a long time there in a DIY shop – more than we had planned.  Amy and I love our paintings that we made and it will be a fun souvenier that we can frame and hang on the wall back home.  After we had left and were on the bus, Amy realized she had left her tablet.  WE were so glad that we had gotten their business card and Amy worked to contact the lady that helped us and finally connected with her and she said she would protect her tablet for her and we will pick it up tomorrow.

The next stop we got off at was China Town.  That is where we found wifi at a Kentucky Fried Chicken to communicate about Amy’s tablet.  While there, we ate dinner.  A disappointment compared to the chicken we had on the street. J  WE walked though the shopping area and found the prices pretty high and the folks didn’t go down very much and they didn’t understand our Chinese!  We also found our hostel that we will stay in with the family.  We found “Central Market” but were out of time to do the fish spa so we will do that with the family in a couple of weeks.  We got back on the bus after a long wait and wanted to ride it back to stop #3 but it ended and stop #23 so we just walked home from the Petronas Towers.

This restaurant was on our way as we walked back to our apartment
We stopped at our favorite stall and we bought more roti and another kind that was made with a batter.  We took the sauces home with us in little bags.  Mason got another Roti Paka – toast with butter and coconut jam put together as a sandwich.  We also bought water and oranges.  Back at home we tried out the new bread and it had a sour flavor, like a sourdough bread.  Later I read about it and it is made with a fermented rice flour batter and it is called “thosai.”  Amy and I didn’t care for it much.  Mason had gotten eaten alive by mosquitoes at the craft complex today so Amy put “Dragon’s Blood” on them and I gave him a Benadryl.

Today was a long day and it was late so we did not go swimming.  Mason was a trooper, as usual.
