Today
we all went on the “Big Bus Tour” of Hong Kong.
Since it is Chinese New Year tomorrow, the bus stops running a little
early, but we were able to get a free harbor tour ride as compensation for
that. We rode all around Hong Kong and
saw many things. It ended up being quite a chilly day! Those who brought their coats were glad! We enjoyed the drive through the Stanley area which the back side of the island from Victoria's Peak. There are several beaches in that area and a few very nice resorts. It is beautiful. It also has a cove area that was once home to real pirates! Pretty cool!!

Our beautiful drive through the Stanley area |
Along this same route, we got off on the stop to take our Sampan ride. This boat ride took us through a bay area where fishermen keep and live on their boats. In this bay you can also find a huge floating restaurant! Pretty cool!
We had too many people for one boat, so Dad, David, Rebecca and Kelli went on the second boat. |
That lady didn't like us taking her picture. She is pointing at us. |
After riding through the beautiful beach resort area of Stanley, we got off at the stop for Victoria's Peak. We rode the tram up the hill to the peak and look out from the tower platform. It was very windy and cold! We didn't stay out there very long. We rode the trolley/tram down the hill and were onto the next sight to see.

After our harbor boat tour, we had dinner at Subway. Delicious!
We walked back to our apartment and found an area where they were preparing floats for the Chinese New Year Parade and there were dancers practicing for some show. We never did figure out what happened when and we somehow never found out when they celebrated Chinese New Year! Somewhere there was a big parade with lots of floats but we never saw it. We did see the balloons being blown up and the floats pulling in to the lot area.
For dinner tonight, we went to the grocery store and bought noodles! We had a coffee pot in our apartment that could heat up water so we were set!
